Sandra Hill - Founder / Forest School Leader / Owner of The World Outside
​
Sandra is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and a Chartered Landscape Architect, certified by the Landscape Institute. She trained as a Forest School Leader in 2010 and established her own business in 2011, delivering Forest School and natural play opportunities to children year-round. With over 24 years' experience in the horticultural industry, including a strong foundation in hardy nursery stock production and plant knowledge, Sandra studied at Pershore College and later qualified as a Landscape Architect. She has worked across both public and private sectors on major projects such as Worcester Hospital, Queen’s Square in Wolverhampton, and Play Pathfinder schemes. Sandra also holds an enhanced DBS, paediatric outdoor first aid and food hygiene certificates, and public liability insurance. She is a member of the Forest School Association and the Institute for Outdoor Learning, working towards accreditation as an outdoor learning provider.
Helen - Forest School Leader

Helen Wildboar began her professional career as a trained nurse before making a career change to pursue her passion for the outdoors and early years education. She qualified as a Level 3 Forest School Leader in 2012 after training with Bishops Wood Outdoor Education Centre and went on to deliver regular Forest School sessions for Reception-aged children within Dudley Borough. Following a move to Worcestershire, she began volunteering with Forest Schools to maintain her involvement in outdoor learning, which led to her joining The World Outside in 2015. Helen continues to thrive in this role, where she combines her love of nature with her commitment to supporting children’s development through nature-led, outdoor experiences.

Liz - Forest School Leader

Liz is a highly experienced Forest School Leader, to our team. With many years working in the classroom and leading Forest School in both mainstream schools and alternative provision, she brings a wealth of expertise in outdoor learning, bushcraft, and child development. Passionate about creativity and hands-on experiences, she loves crafts and enjoys managing her own woodland in her spare time, deepening her connection to nature. Her skills and enthusiasm will be a wonderful addition to our ethos of inspiring learning through nature.

Holly - Forest School Leader

Holly is a forest school leader and a primary school teacher
​
Holly joined the team in 2025 and works with us part time with the schools on our curriculum linked visits as well as our holiday clubs

Sarah - Forest School Leader
​​
Based in Kidderminster, Sarah works with us on the occasions we are short staffed and has worked as a Teaching Assistant at St Catherine’s Primary School for over five years, gaining experience across all key stages. Passionate about outdoor learning, she was inspired to train as a Forest School Leader at Bishops Wood in 2015, following a desire to ensure all children have access to outdoor play and learning opportunities. She now leads Forest School sessions from Reception to Year 6, aligning activities with curriculum topics while encouraging children to develop a love for nature and the environment. During her training, she also gained valuable experience volunteering with The World Outside, where she was supported and inspired to continue promoting the Forest School ethos.

Jeff - Forest School Leader

Jeff is married to Esther and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren who all love the outdoors. They have been involved in youth work most of their lives. Jeff qualified as a Forest School Leader in 2012 and ran sessions in his role on the the Pastoral Team of a Secondary School in Warwickshire. When his family moved to Kidderminster in 2020 he looked for a Forest School provider where he could volunteer and found us 'The World Outside’. "I love the natural world of God’s awesome creation, the beauty, variety and intricacy. I want young people to explore and love it too!"

Kate - Forest School Leader and Level 3 Childcare Practitioner
​
Kate works with us on the occasions when we are short staffed and brings a wealth of experience to our team, having managed nurseries across the West Midlands with a passionate and dedicated approach.
As a trained Level 3 Forest School Leader, she possesses an in-depth understanding of outdoor learning and its importance in early childhood development. Kate joined our team in February 2024, and she will be running Forest School programs at Bodenham arboretum.
Her role extends beyond the forest, as she also contributes her expertise as a Level 3 Childcare Assistant at the Kindergarten. Kate's commitment to fostering a love for nature among children and her extensive background in early years education make her an invaluable asset to our staff.
Denise - Marketing

With over 25 years of experience in Marketing and PR, Denise brings a wealth of expertise to her role at The World Outside, where she supports the team with communications while embracing a new chapter in the great outdoors. Joining Sandra and the team at Bodenham Arboretum has provided a refreshing change of pace, allowing her to combine professional skills with a personal passion for nature and outdoor learning. Based in rural Worcestershire, she enjoys staying active and spending time in the countryside.
